Description

Each trugs Check pack is a single pack of cards that checks whether a learner has mastered the decoding skills in a set of trugs stages, and shows when they are ready to move on. trugs Check 0 uses the letters of the alphabet, to check the letter sounds before Stage 1.

What is in trugs Check 0

  • Letter cards for the sounds of the alphabet
  • 23 trugs symbol cards: five of trugs 1 and six each of trugs 2, 3 and 4
  • A pack face card
  • The instructions, including which pack to use when

The pack code (TC0) is printed in the corner of every card, so mixed-up packs are easy to sort.

How to play Beat it

For 2 to 4 players. Deal out all the cards. Players take turns to turn over their top card, place it in the middle and read it out loud. When a trugs symbol card appears, the next player must lay down that number of cards, reading each one. If none of them is a trugs card, the player of the trugs card takes the whole pile. The game stops after 5 minutes, or when one player has won all the cards. The full rules are on the last page of the PDF.

How to print, cut and play

  1. Print pages 1 to 8 onto thick card. We use 275 gsm, stiff enough to shuffle and deal.
  2. Cut the cards out along the crop marks with a paper trimmer, so they are all the same size.
  3. Keep the pack together with a band, with the instructions page alongside.
