Not sure where to start? Begin with Pack 1 for early readers, or play a few games from Stage 1 and move on as soon as the words come easily.
Pop-out pack or Download & Print?
- Printed Pop Out Pack: ready-printed cards on sturdy A4 sheets. Pop them out and play, with no printing or cutting. 360 cards and an instruction booklet. The flat pack posts at a lower cost, with no loss of card quality.
- Download & Print: the A4 PDFs to print at home on thick card (we use 275 gsm) and trim. 420 cards, including Explanation Cards for every stage. Print a replacement whenever a card goes missing.
How trugs works
Every stage has three card games. Get It, Match It and Take It are fun and competitive, so children hardly notice the reading, and they come back for more: to win, or to beat you. Every game is practice, reinforcing one phonics stage at a time.
Each stage builds on the one before, and an Explanation Card tells you what the stage teaches, so you need no training. trugs was created by Joanna Jeffery, a dyslexia specialist and teacher of 35 years, and works for readers of all ages, not only those with dyslexia.
