Description
trugs stands for Teach Reading Using Games. With a school license, your teaching and support staff can print the trugs card games for Stages 6 to 10 for as many of your learners as need them, and learners can take sets home to play with family and friends. You control the printing, which keeps the cost down.
| Stages 6 to 10 | Word examples |
|---|---|
| Stage 6: split digraph (vowel-consonant-e) | make, these, fine, code, tuneful |
| Stage 7: vowel digraphs and trigraphs | snail, seen, light, boat, statue |
| Stage 8: alternative vowel digraphs | boy, out, paw |
| Stage 9: two-syllable words | limit, pilot |
| Stage 10: three-syllable words | consider, discontent |
Every stage has three card games: Get It, Match It and Take It. An Explanation Card for each stage says what it teaches, so there is nothing to look up. The structure was put together by a dyslexia specialist, so you can simply play.
How to print, cut and play
- Open the PDF for the stage you want. Each card’s title bar shows the stage and the game.
- Print onto thick card. We use 275 gsm, stiff enough to shuffle and deal.
- Cut the cards out along the crop marks with a paper trimmer, so they are all the same size.
- Sort them into the three games by border colour: Get It (green), Match It (pink) and Take It (yellow), each with its Explanation Card.
- Put a band round each game and keep them in a box.
Download a free sample sheet (PDF) to try the cards on your own printer first.
Your school license
You can:
- let teaching and support staff in your school print copies for your own learners and their families
- send printed packs home with learners to play with family
- save the file to a USB drive or private cloud drive to have it printed at a print shop for school use
You can’t:
- share the files with anyone outside your school, by email, USB, cloud upload, messaging or any other way
- sell or give the files to anyone else, or sell printed copies
- edit or alter the files, or upload them online for others
- suggest that you created the files, or use the files or prints commercially
trugs printables aren’t covered by the CLA copying license; this school license is what allows copying across classes. Read the full school license (PDF). For a custom license, email trugs@readsuccessfully.com.
